Why in Venice?
Every one of us has been coming on a fairly regular basis to Venice for many years now.
It was love at first sight for us all, and in our desperate attempt to illude ourselves that we were actually living here, we booked into all kinds of accommodation over the years.
What struck us, almost without exception, was just how many very unpleasant apartments are being let out to naive visitors to the city in search of a dream. How many of them have someone's old, discarded furniture? How many still have horsehair mattresses? Here we are not talking antique, but just second-hand!
And the trailing wires and dubious electrics? And all those rather nasty ornaments. Some places are so spartan, even a monk would have something to say!
As a result of this communal experience of bad taste and misinformation, each of us was determined when at last we were able to buy our own property, to actually create a second home in the true sense of the word.

Our choices
We have spent months with the plans in our hands going around furniture stores and architects' studios to try to get it right.
We have spent large sums of money in making our choices, opting for the best in Italian design, and British classics, each of us adding our own personal touches and taste in soft furnishings and colour schemes.
We have spent a great deal of time in trying to find the best ways to highlight a special feature in our homes, from the floor to ceiling windows, or the hand made marble floors or the finely polished marble finish walls.

You only have to glance at our photo galleries to see that we are not exaggerating when we claim that the homes are superb, many of them with a special view, and every one of them without exception, new! Many of them have only recently been constructed, whilst others are housed in lovely old buildings and have been completely renovated, in every sense of the word, from the bathroom sanitary equipment, to the fully equipped fitted kitchen and the fine ceramic tiles, right down to the new mattress!
If you should choose to stay in one of our delightful apartments, we are quite certain that you will not be disappointed, and if you are not careful, you may even end up wanting to join our community of dedicated part-time itinerant Venetians!

The choices
We have decided to pool our communal knowledge following this experience, and make it available to anyone who, like ourselves, starts out on the adventure of a home here in Venice, without really knowing who to turn to for assistance with regard to suppliers, utilities and such like.
Inevitably, any names included here are only those with which we have had personal experience, and in no way constitute an exhaustive list. We would be more than happy to add any others that you have dealt with favourably, so please feel free to contact us with their details.
To ensure that we only include genuine recommendations, we do ask that you give us your name and the whereabouts of your own apartment in Venice. This information will not be retained by us, nor will it be passed on to third parties for any reason.
